Necrobiosis lipoidica
What causes the yellow hue in the skin in this condition?
Although initially the plaques of necrobiosis lipoidica are red-brown in colour, with time the plaques develop prominent yellow central discolouration. The yellow hue is due to subcutaneous fat under an atrophic dermis.
