Pyogenic granuloma
What features distinguish this condition?
A pyogenic granuloma is a common acquired vascular lesion, particularly affecting young children and pregnant women. It is often found on lips, hands or feet. It may be precipitated by a minor injury or infection. Patients complain of profuse bleeding, so they are usually removed by electrosurgery or excision. Obtain histology – amelanotic melanoma may look similar!
