Pityriasis versicolor
What is the most likely cause?
Malassezia spp.
How would you treat it?
Pityriasis versicolor is due to Malassezia species (yeasts) and may present as flaky brown, pink or white macules coalescing into patches. The most common site is the mid upper trunk.
The scale of pityriasis versicolor clears quickly with topical or systemic azole, but hypopigmentation may be more persistent or permanent in some individuals.
